WORKSHOPS
SUNDAY 18TH JULY
ZEN IN THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY
San Diego - California
"Your vision will become clear only
when you look into your own heart"
Carl Jung
The workshop will take the format of a conversation amongst friends giving everyone an opportunity to join in. We’ll cover such topics as the importance of encounter and your relationship with your subject, be it a landscape, a person or in Edward Weston’s case, a toilet; awareness and understanding of the role of intuition; making and not taking a photograph; finding your own unique voice as an artist; understanding the language we use to be literate as visual storytellers communicating in a single silent frame, rules that need to be broken and, like any good conversation that takes on a life of its own, we’ll cover many other allied subjects.
Class limited to 8 people - $125.

Teaching Philosophy
The most personal of all journeys is the journey of the artist. It demands much by way of sacrifice with little by way of return in a material word.
It is a constant journey of self discovery that has no route map, no boundary and no perimeter. There is no right way and no wrong. No rules bar one, honesty with ones self
The journey requires risk and in that, the traveler must be willing look foolish to the crowd.
Prodding all the time the craftsman must come face to face with his spirit and soul before he evolves to an artist.
It is the teacher who, for a short while, becomes the guide, accompanying his charge along the way, sharing and imparting insights and experiences, increasing the student’s awareness and consciousness to the possibilities.
