LASSO

The rodeo was a big attraction for me when I first came to the States in1979 so when I was commissioned by a magazine to cover the Little Britches Rodeo finals I jumped at the opportunity.  Wasn’t quite sure what to expect, mind you.  Turns out it was the same as a regular rodeo other than that the competitors were smaller in size though certainly not in stature.  They compete in pretty much the same events as the adults.  The only difference I could tell was the occasional older cowboy telling a 14 year old, who was considering bursting into tears after had just been tossed to the ground off the back of a bull, to “cowboy up”.
